Engine Out

In some rare cases, the engine fan blades or turbine blades broke off because of the external impact or internal defects. Losing the blade may lead to one engine out in flight, and pilots have to fly with only one engine. Even the pilot has shut down the damaged engine, as the airflow keeps blowing the engine fan, the engine rotor will continue turning. This is called the windmill effect.
Losing the blades can also make the engine rotor imbalanced and produce serious vibrations and noise while rotating. It is not a pleasant thing for the passengers to go through this kind of case, the only lucky thing is that the aviation engineers have considered the windmill and the engine out into the design, the airplane should be able to fly safely for at least 60 minutes.
